I was disappointed last spring to find that the cabover was leaking and the new plywood was delaminating. I went over all the suspected leak points and I think I got them all, but decided to tear it out and replace with aluminum so I wouldn’t have to worry about future leaks. I used 1-1/2″ square tubing with a 1/8″ wall, with 0.050 aluminum sheet on top. I reused the 0.032 sheets that I had previously installed on the under side.
I kept the rearmost 15″ of the bed platform in wood. That’s the portion that is over the bulkhead and then extends into the interior. The photo shows the cabover platform as I was beginning to put the aluminum on. I filled the spaces with 1-1/2″ rigid foam insualation. I’ll add another later of foam insulation on top of that and then a layer of 1/4″ plywood. The matress will sit on top of a Froli system.
